The Buyer Side Tool (BST) summarizes companies various bid criteria, and distributes, manages and maintains the bid process until fulfillment. The BST will help purchasers determine and formalize their service needs, buying terms, source selection requirements, solicitation style, contract award, and final contract with a qualified supplier.
The target market for the CB Buyer Automation Tool is a two-tier objective.
Tier I: CB offers its public exchange to help buyers of products and services to formalize their business needs and requirements in order to distribute a meaningful RFP to qualified suppliers. The exchange is geared towards fulfilling contracts for small to medium sized companies with a projected average contract between 30 and 40 thousand dollars.
Tier II: CB will resell its exchange concept to ASP’s and market champions with the value proposition of being able to reduce procurement procedural costs, and a way to automate the Request for Proposal (RFP) process and supplier base. This market approach will allow CB to take advantage of markets that would be relatively untapped and set up a long-term royalty based revenue agreement with the CB client.
Government Automation Tool: The government automation tool is still in its development cycle, and is being co-developed by ContractBroker and a number of highly regarded government vendors. The value proposition of this product is delivered to the government supplier. CB’s government module allows a supplier the ability to customize a web based spider that searches through all government contract related sites and brings the vendor back solicitations that fit the vendors scope of business. The second phase of the product will give vendors a guided entry, automated approach to responding to the government solicitation that will be distributed securely back to the government agency.
NOTE: The Department of Defense (DOD) has set precedence in contract and proposal automation to be mandatory. All vendors must comply with submitting electronic proposals by or before 2003.
Alliance Automation Tool: ContractBroker delivers its alliance tool as a public exchange where companies can go to post NDA’s, general business, and strategic partnership documentation. The tool allows companies to accept and reject any company partnership inquires via e-mail. A user of the site will post all documentation securely and will be notified via e-mail of any inquiry made by another company and what the company is requesting. These are the maximum cold working pressure ratings of the valve body only. The seat material ratings determine the valve pressure limitation in actual service. The Series BF-VD resilient seated butterfly valve is available in sizes 2" through 12", wafer style body design. These butterfly valves were designed to meet the stringent requirements for HVAC, oil & gas, and industrial applications, or wherever positive shut-off is required for liquids, gases and slurries. Incorporating 200 psi maximum cold working pressure (CWP) for 2" through 12", the Series BF-VD is available in either cast iron or stainless steel body, EPDM or NBR seats, & other optional trim materials are available to meet your specific application needs. EPDM seat is not recommended for applications where hydrocarbons, oils, minerals or solvents are present. It is necessary that the user approve each material for a specific application. Where valve performance is critical, we suggest actual product testing be done to assure material compatibility with the flow stream. ACTUATION: Bare stem is offered as standard, with option of lever handle, worm-gear operator or pneumatic valve actuator. Gear actuator is recommended for valve size above 8". Standard surface finishing for cast iron valve body is blue color paint over primer. Epoxy powder coating on valve body is also available as an option. Each butterfly valve is packed individually inside a plastic bag to keep it free from dirt, grit or other foreign particles.

22To promote the conservation and wise use of wildlife and environment in East Africa" Armed with the mission, the Society has the mandate to work with governments and National institutions, other NGOs, Local communities and the members and supporters of the Society in East Africa and throughout the world. The East African Region is endowed with the widest variety and contrasts of environmental ecosystems harboring the greatest variety of flora and fauna than any other region probably in the whole world. From snow capped mountains, dense thick rainforests to undulating plains and beautiful coastline, coral reefs, beaches and mangrove forests, the region is a haven to the most scenic and captivating environments. Society Programme areas The Society operates programmes that cover almost entirely the whole spectrum of the East African diverse environments. These are; forests and watershed management, species conservation, wetlands, marine and coastal resources conservation and advocacy and capacity building.
B7 Forests and Watersheds: Forests are vital links in the chains of human survival. Forests are the water catchments that support the rivers and the lakes that provide the water used by the human population, animals and power the industrial sectors in the region. Forests are known to provide habitat for over fifty percent of the world's biodiversity. Most important wildlife ecosystems like the Mara-Serengeti and Tsavo depend on Rivers that directly emanate from the forests. Yet, more and more increasingly, these ecosystems are becoming under great destruction and degradation to the point of not being able to provide the vital life support functions that they do. A country is said to be ecologically unstable if it has less than 10% of its land area under forest. This is true with Kenya, which has less than 3% of its land under forest. Still those in the government charged with the responsibilities of conserving these forests make decisions to excise large portions of the forest cover even further in the recent past. In the latest of such moves, a whooping over 65, 000 ha of forest were earmarked for excision in a government gazette notice published in February 2001. Areas affected include the Mt. Kenya Forest, the Mau Complex which are part of the five major water towers of the country. The excision of parts of the Mau complex portends not only economical consequences but also ecological disasters. In economic terms, the Mau is the catchment of the Mara river - the lifeline of the all important Maasai Mara reserve, a very important tourist destination and foreign exchange earner ? and the Sondu river ? on which a multi ? million dollar hydro-power plant expected to add approximately 60 megawatts of electricity onto the national power grid is being constructed. The destruction of the forests is therefore suicidal, not only ecologically but also socially and economically. Many lives are being slowly but surely being suffocated. At the EAWLS, the importance of the forests is not missed at all. The Society is home to the secretariat of the Kenya Forests Working Group (KFWG), a consortium of institutions (government and non-government, local, national and international) concerned with forests, their conservation and management. The KFWG's main goal is to improve the status of Kenya's forests and increase the benefits form the sustainable use of the forests through sound management and conservation practices. This is done through raising awareness, advocacy for forest conservation, monitoring and surveys of forest status and networking. The Society, through the KFWG has spoken out against these destructive trends n the forest sector. Recognizing the inadequacy in the policy and legislative regime, the Society has been influential in ensuring that new policies are put in place that reflect the current trends in forest management. Today the Forest Law is being reviewed and will usher in a new era in forest management in the country. Apart from the policy influence, the Society has also generated a lot of information on the forestry sector. To counter the excision threats, the Society organized a campaign. Petitions for signatures were sent throughout the country and abroad seeking support from fellow citizens and friends. A total of 30,780 signatures were collected and presented to the Ministry. The Society also wrote objection letters citing its concerns over the consequences of the proposed excisions. On top of these a TV documentary has been produced for wider dissemination among the general public. Recognizing the influence of human intervention and interference with natural ecosystems especially forests, the Society also runs a programme that aims to enhance the capacity of local communities in management of forest resources through participatory sustainable management of natural resources by increasing the participation of local communities. This programme is focused in two areas, Gatamaiyu in central province and Oloolua forests in Kajiado district. Oloolua forest ? just on the outskirts of Nairobi ? has been disturbed by quarrying activities in the forest. Quarrying mainly done by outsiders led to the near extinction of the forest. Through agitation of the Society, the government instituted an environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) of the forest. After the assessment, quarrying has been banned from the forest and rehabilitation plans are going on which will involve directly the residents and encourage identification and promotion of alternative sustainable uses of the forest such eco-tourism activities. Community initiatives are also coming up in Gatamaiyu forest aimed at sustainable use of the forest.
B7 Species conservation The wildlife of East Africa may be plenty but the abundance of the populations of the different species is in some cases critical. There are certain keystone species, which have been faced with, imminent extinction. The African Elephant and the Black Rhino are classic examples. Faced with extinction in the seventies and the eighties from poaching, the Society was at the forefront in mobilizing resources and action to save these "modern day terrestrial dinosaurs" Today the Society is striving to support and facilitate activities aimed at saving the Roan antelope, the African Wild Dog and the Hirola antelope - all critically endangered. The Ruma National park in which the only known population of the Roan antelope is found in Kenya is surrounded by communities who depend on the animal for products such as meat and the horns. The park was partly fenced to keep off this menace from exterminating the species. However a 10 km-stretch of the fence needs to be completed to fully encircle the park. The Society is currently fund raising to have this portion completed with support already being pledged from well-wishers. In the case of the Wild Dog, the species is little known. Through continued and sustained monitoring, the Society is highlighting the plight of the status of the species. The information generated is being used to solicit or concerted efforts to save the animal. The Hirola antelope whose home range once covered a substantial section of the Eastern and North-Eastern province is now a restricted range specie as encroachment has reduced its habitat. A target for its meat, the species almost reached extinction levels. The Society has therefore facilitated and supported translocation programmes of the species to the Tsavo National Park where its population is closely being monitored. The Society has also been instrumental in initiating a multi-institutional management committee for effective management of the species.
B7 Marine, Coastal and Wetlands Resources The marine environment remains to be the most important environment for the next revolution. Preserving this environment is therefore of paramount importance. From developments along the beachfronts, degradation of the mangrove ecosystems and conversion of the wetlands fringing the coastal areas, the onus is on those committed to the sustainable environmental for future generations to put every effort to check the degradation of the marine environment. The Society initiated the Tsunza Community Development Programme in Kwale District to spearhead the rehabilitation of degraded mangrove areas. The programme, which is basically community based, is also conducting education and awareness creation on the importance of the mangrove forests. In the Tana Delta, the Society has been involved in education, awareness and advocacy against industrial shrimp aqua-culture. The shrimp would have meat large areas of the wetlands being converted thus affecting the livelihoods of the locals and the ecology of the ecosystem.
B7 Advocacy and Capacity Building Commitment to environmental conservation is reinforced by adequate information and capacity to address and articulate the issues at hand. At the national level, the Society encourages and facilitates debate, discussions on policy legislative, legal issues that affect environment and wildlife. This is necessary because it only from an informed point of view that sound decisions that promote environmental management and preservation can be achieved. At the more localized level, the Society is involved in improving the capacity of local communities to participate in environmental management by being involved directly in decision-making and economic empowerment. The CORE programme is one such activity that aims at improving conservation and management of natural resources through increased benefits to the communities and landowners in selected wildlife dispersal areas of parks and reserves.
